SkyCity casino in Auckland could face a landmark class suit from the problem gamblers that had been affected by the poker machines.
The Problem Gambling Foundation monitors the Australia's test case that seeks the compensation for the losses of the gambling addicts.
The two hundred problem gamblers are seeking from the government and the gambling industry for the damages they lost due to gambling.
John Stansfield, the head of the foundation said that the SkyCity might face a similar class suit in days ahead as the six problem gamblers are visitors of SkyCity casino.
SkyCity casino vehemently denies the accusation.
Stansfield said that the SkyCity loyalty card is a means to identify the problem gamblers as it provides database of players spending practice.
SkyCity said that eighty six to ninety percent of the damage from gambling addiction comes from non casino venues.
According to SkyCity the number of gambling addicts had lowered since 1999.
David Kennedy, spokesman of SkyCity, dismissing the class suit, said that the casino might use the information on the loyalty card to decrease problem addiction.
Kennedy said that thirty percent of the players have loyalty cards and it would break privacy laws if cards would be use in the legal case.
